Jesus Gets Mad on Public Radio
Talking about the Bible on Chicago Public Radio
Dec 8th, 2009 | By Skye Jethani | Category: Church, Culture, Faith, FeaturesIn October I sat down for a brief interview with Brian Babylon, a host on Chicago Public Radio’s “Vocolo” (95.5 FM), about my participation with the Interfaith Youth Core conference at Northwestern University. We had a great conversation about matters of faith, culture, and the church.
In December, Vocolo is doing a series of broadcasts about faith. Brian invited me to be a guest each Friday this month to discuss familiar, but often misunderstood, stories from the Bible and how they apply to contemporary issues. I’ve had the privilege of doing a number of Christian radio programs before, but this was a first: 30 minutes to talk about the Bible and apply it on public radio.
December 4th was my first segment. I was able to do it in studio at the Chicago Public Radio studio at Navy Pier. Brian wanted to discuss the story of Jesus’ “meltdown” at the temple. You can listen to the conversation below. And I’ll post the future segments each week…although I don’t know what stories Brian will want to tackle next.

What an awesome platform! Good stuff.
Excellent piece, Skye. Look forward to the next one. Your comment about the trucks in the church foyer still has me shaking my head.
Finished “Divine Commodity” and it was EXCELLENT. Well done.
Skye – Fantastic!
Love that you’re taking this opportunity on NPR. Your intelligence, thoughtfulness, and humility shine! Great work.
